WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS DO EXIST ON THE ARCTIC VALLEY ROAD! 4x4 ,STUDS, or CHAINS ARE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED.
We are open this Saturday and Sunday.
Feb 18th - The mountain is untracked and the snow should be carvable. There are areas of wind effected snow on ridgelines.
NOTE to backcountry folks: If you are going backcountry, please stay clear of the ski area boundaries and lifts from Nov. 1st through May 1st. Uphill traffic within the ski area boundaries during these times (except by getting a lift ticket and riding the lifts) is banned by our liability insurance company and can be VERY dangerous, especially if we are up doing snow safety work! Our volunteers are required to enforce this when they are present at the area.
If you are looking up the Valley, anything to the right of Toklat Creek is considered within ski area boundaries. Anything to the left of the creek is open to the public, although not patrolled and no snow safety work is done there. The best run is probably up Mt. Gordon-Lyon, the peak between the missle site and the saddle. There are also some pretty nice gullies between the parking lots and Gordon-Lyon that are great for snowboarders - but can be avalanche prone under certain conditions. Ski/Board at your own risk!!!
Please respect these simple guidelines and have a great time exploring the rest of the Chugach. Then come get fresh tracks on Saturday mornings when we are open!
Interested in the weather above chair two on the ridge line?
In a partnership with 'Friends of the Chugach' there is now a weather station placed on the ridge just above Chair Two's Top Station!
For historical data check out their weather station page!

Note: Live data from telemetry sites is provisional, and has not been verified for accuracy. These are all remote mountaintop weather stations, outages can and will occur from time to time. We do our best to keep them up and operating.
Arctic Valley is the 4th peak from the left! Camera is in Downtown Anchorage.
